What ITR Desk is

ITR Desk is a browser extension that helps chartered accountants and tax practitioners work faster on the Income Tax e-Filing portal (eportal.incometax.gov.in). It is operated by an independent developer in India (the "Operator") and is not affiliated with the Income Tax Department or the Government of India.

Data the extension stores

• Client records you enter: name, PAN, date of birth or incorporation, tags and free-text notes.
• Notice records you enter (Pro): section, DIN/reference, due date, status and notes.
• Your settings (keep-alive, autofill, download folder).
• Your licence key and its activation status (Pro).

All of this is stored locally in your browser's extension storage on your device. The Operator has no server that receives it and cannot see it. The extension never asks for, reads or stores portal passwords or OTPs.

Data that leaves your device

• Licence checks (Pro only): your licence key and a short device label (for example "ITR Desk on Windows") are sent to Dodo Payments' licence API to activate and periodically re-validate the key. See Dodo Payments' privacy policy.
• Purchases: payments are handled entirely by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. The Operator receives your email address and order details from Dodo to provide support; card details never reach the Operator.

No client data, PANs, browsing history or portal content is transmitted anywhere. The extension does not use analytics or advertising SDKs.

Permissions explained

• storage – to keep your client list and settings locally.
• sidePanel – to show the ITR Desk panel next to the portal.
• downloads – to rename files downloaded from the portal into a folder per client. The extension does not read file contents.
• alarms – to schedule the periodic licence re-check.
• Host access to eportal.incometax.gov.in – to show the badge, fill the User ID box and keep the session alive. The extension does not run on any other site.

Retention and deletion

Data stays on your device until you delete it. Use "Delete all local data" in Settings or uninstall the extension to remove everything. Order records held by Dodo Payments are retained according to their policy and applicable tax law.

Children

ITR Desk is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 18.

Material changes to this policy will be published on this page with a new date.
